Earrings are where Roman glass really comes alive. The fragments are small, the patina is close to the skin, and the natural movement of the wearer keeps the iridescence shifting under the light. A pair of Roman glass earrings is the easiest entry point into the collection: the stones are scaled small enough to feel everyday, while their colour and history make them anything but ordinary.

Our Roman glass earring designs fall into three main families. The first is the stud, where a single fragment of patinated glass is set into a 14K gold or sterling silver bezel and worn flush against the ear. Studs are the most subtle and the easiest to layer with other earrings. The second family is the drop earring, where the glass is suspended from a fine chain, a hoop, or a sculpted bar. Drop earrings move with the head and showcase the full curve of the patina. The third family is the chandelier or multi-stone design, where two or three Roman glass fragments are clustered together in geometric or organic shapes for a more dramatic effect.

Materials matter. The metalwork around the glass is what protects the patina, and a sloppy bezel will eventually chip the surface. Our settings are cut by hand in the Jerusalem workshop, with the prongs or bezel walls smoothed against the stone so nothing catches. For nickel-sensitive ears, our sterling silver settings use .925 silver with rhodium plating, and the gold settings are solid karat gold rather than plated brass.
