Handcrafted Purim Judaica & Jewelry gifts

Purim is unique among Jewish festivals for its tone. Where most Jewish holidays carry a serious or contemplative quality, Purim is openly joyful, even raucous: costumes are worn (recalling Esther's hiding of her Jewish identity), the megillah is read aloud with the congregation drowning out Haman's name with noisemakers, and the day's mitzvot include giving food gifts to friends and donations to the poor. The festival falls on the fourteenth of Adar, usually in February or March.

Our Purim collection is organized around the four central mitzvot of the day. For the reading of the megillah: sterling silver megillah cases (handcrafted protective housings for the parchment scroll, often shaped as small architectural columns with engraved scenes from the Book of Esther) and the scrolls themselves, written in custom calligraphy by Israeli soferim. For mishloach manot (the food gifts exchanged between friends): decorated baskets and trays in sterling silver and silver-plated bronze, often engraved with the giver's family name and used year after year. For matanot la'evyonim (gifts to the poor): we offer suggested Israeli charities and small gift cards.

Esther-themed jewelry is its own sub-section. Crowns and scepters (recalling Esther's royalty), the Hebrew letters of the name Esther, and the verse "u'Mordechai yatza milifnei haMelech" ("and Mordechai went out from the king's presence") appear on pendants, rings, and bracelets in solid 14K gold and sterling silver. Children's Purim pieces (small crowns, themed charms, Hebrew-letter bracelets) are popular gifts for the festival. Every piece is made to order in our Jerusalem workshop and ships worldwide; orders for Purim-specific items should be placed by mid-January for delivery before the festival.
