Handmade Gold & Silver Kabbalah Jewelry
Kabbalah teaches that certain combinations of Hebrew letters, certain verses, and certain shapes carry a spiritual force that goes beyond their literal meaning. The same letters that make up a prayer can, arranged differently, form a divine name; the same six-pointed star can serve as both a symbol of identity and a Merkabah, a Kabbalistic vehicle of ascent. Kabbalah jewelry is the practice of carrying these elements close to the skin.
Our Kabbalah collection is organized around the symbols and verses most commonly associated with the tradition. The Ana Bekoach pendant inscribes the seven-line liturgical poem composed by Rabbi Nehunya ben HaKanah, whose forty-two opening letters spell one of the most powerful names of God. The 72 Names of God pendant draws on the three verses in Exodus 14 (the parting of the Red Sea), each of which contains 72 letters; arranged in columns of three, they form 72 distinct three-letter names, each said to govern a specific spiritual force. Our 72 Names pendants are usually crafted in solid 14K gold so that no letter is obscured by plating.
The Merkabah Star of David pendant takes the two interlocking triangles of the Magen David and renders them in three dimensions, forming an interlocked pair of pyramids; in Kabbalistic tradition the Merkabah is a chariot for the soul. Tree of Life designs map the ten Sefirot, the heavenly emanations through which the divine relates to creation, with the lines between them drawn as polished metal channels. Hamsa pendants in this collection are inscribed with Kabbalistic verses on the reverse, and several of our pieces incorporate red string, blessed at the Tomb of Rachel south of Jerusalem.
Each piece is made to order in our Jerusalem workshop. Because the symbolism of Kabbalistic jewelry depends on the correctness of the inscription, we work with Hebrew calligraphers who specialize in sacred lettering, and we will gladly send a digital proof of any custom engraving before production begins. Every Kabbalah piece ships worldwide with documentation of the verse or name inscribed and the metal used.
