Decorative Sterling Silver Mezuzah Cases
The Mezuzah is one of the most public expressions of Jewish identity. Mounted on the right-hand doorpost (at the upper third, tilted toward the entrance) it announces the home as a Jewish home, and the parchment inside fulfils the biblical commandment to inscribe the Shema on the doorposts of the house. Many families place a Mezuzah on every interior doorway as well, not only the front door.
Our Mezuzah case collection covers two main design families. Traditional cases feature classical motifs (the Hebrew letter shin, which abbreviates the divine name Shaddai; floral or geometric engraving in the style of Yemenite, European, or Sephardic Judaica; raised lettering of the Shema or the Priestly Blessing). Contemporary cases work in cleaner architectural forms, often combining sterling silver with Eilat stone, Roman glass, or hammered surfaces in a more modern aesthetic. Travel Mezuzah cases, smaller and easily transportable, are common for those who move frequently or want a Mezuzah for an office or vehicle.
The scroll inside the case (called the klaf or parchment) is what fulfils the religious obligation; the case is essentially a protective housing. We offer hand-written scrolls from qualified Israeli soferim (Jewish scribes) as an add-on at checkout, with documentation of the scribe's certification. Cases ship with secure mounting hardware suitable for wood, drywall, or stone doorposts; for outdoor use we recommend the weather-resistant options noted on each product page. Every Mezuzah case is made to order or selected from inventory in our Jerusalem workshop and shipped worldwide with a certificate of authenticity.
