Handmade Gold & Silver Chai Jewelry
The word Chai (pronounced "khai," with a guttural H) is everywhere in Jewish life. It appears in the toast l'chaim, in the title of countless prayers and songs, and in the time-honored custom of giving gifts in multiples of 18. Wearing Chai jewelry is a way of carrying that affirmation of life close to the skin. The two Hebrew letters, chet and yud, are simple to recognize once you know them, and they form a shape that designers have explored in every style imaginable.
Our Chai jewelry collection reflects that range. The classic Chai pendant in 14K yellow gold remains the cornerstone of the collection, available in several sizes and weights to suit both delicate everyday wear and statement pieces. We also produce Chai necklaces in 18K white and rose gold for those who prefer cooler or softer tones, and in hand-stamped sterling silver for a more accessible price point. Many designs incorporate set diamonds at the corners of the letters, while others use natural stones from Israel: Eilat stone for its rich blue-green veining, or Roman glass cut from genuine archaeological fragments.
For men, we offer larger, heavier Chai pendants finished with brushed or oxidized surfaces, often hung on our solid Israeli gold rope or Cuban-link chains. For children, smaller versions with rounded edges and lighter chains are popular as Brit Milah, naming, and Bat Mitzvah gifts. A Chai pendant is also a common choice for someone recovering from illness, marking a new chapter, or honoring the memory of a loved one. The gematria value of 18 makes a Chai necklace a particularly resonant gift when paired with a monetary contribution in any multiple of chai.
Every Chai necklace in our collection is made to order and shipped worldwide from our Jerusalem boutique. Hebrew name engraving on the reverse can be added at checkout, along with chain length adjustments and gift wrapping. Because the symbol itself is so brief and unmistakable, the craftsmanship of the letters is what separates a memorable piece from a generic one, and that is where our master goldsmiths spend their time.
